It has been a very lazy week...

  • Mood: Didn't get much done!
  • Weather:
  • Kids/Lambs: Just waiting!

Monday February 16:  Nice Sunny day, but cold.  Had no plans for the day, was a good thing.  I ended up going to visit my neighbor who has sheep lambing now.  We made a trade last fall, my adult ewe who didn't like people, for their bottle baby who loves people.  I get a sheep that is more like a goat and friendly, they get a ewe who is ready to have babies and also has good lines.

Anyway, the ewe I gave them had lambed twins.  They were small and mom didn't seem to want to care for them.  She had never been a bad mom before, this was her second set of twins and her fourth time lambing, so none of this was new to her.  She wasn't bagged up at all, milk was never a problem before either.  I tried to milk her out and got some, but not much.  The lambs were in need of yummies, so we use a syring to draw up the milk and then squirt it into their mouths.  Once they had the milk, they were much warmer and stronger.  The curled up together and took a nap while my neighbor and I sat in the stall a visited.

Only in the country and out with someone else who enjoys being in the barn, would you see two grown women sitting in a stall in grubbys and having a good visit.

Tuesday was rather uneventful.  Just the usual things, chores and Meals on Wheels.  We didn't really have anything planned for the day again.  It is the first birthday of my youngest granddaughter who lives in Ann Arbor, I sent out a card, so I am hoping that she got it.  Hope she has a Happy First Birthday!

Wednesday is the same as Tuesday, only I did have Fiber Gals meeting to attend.  We had a nice time there.

Thursday, was another no go day.  Must be underachievers weeks, just got what was needed to be done and nothing much else.

Friday, I did get around in the morning and made three loaves of bread.  They turned out beautiful!  It has been a long time since I had such nice shaped loaves, and they were even golden brown!  When the bread was done we decided to go into town and have lunch as well as pick up a few groceries and also the plexiglass needed to finish the award frames my Brother made for me.  There is a Winter Storm Warning for tomorrow so the stores were quite busy!

Saturday morning and no sign of the snow.  Still just a lazy no get up and go!   Then by 10 AM the snow began to fall.  I got a call from Dark Haired Beauty's Mom asking if I would like to go with them and their 4H group to the Redeo.  The weather had me kind of spooked so I didn't except the invitation, instead I just lazed around here.  By the late afternoon, the ground was white and there were some drifts, but not really any great amount.  In the evening I got a phone call from Daughter, she had been to Ann Arbor for an MRI.  Her drive down was fine, but coming back was quite a chore.  No news yet from the MRI.  On the 11:00 PM news there were several reports of traffic trouble because of the snow, I guess some places got quite a bit more.

I sure hope that I have more motivation this coming week!  I need to be getting some things done around here while the weather is still cold.  Once it warms up, there is plenty to do outside!

Onward and Upward.
